A life of idleness and discontentment leads to temptation and folly. Fixing our eyes on Jesus is how we guard our hearts from being conquered and taken captive by our own evil desires.

Like David to Mephibosheth, God has invited you to eat at his table. He calls broken, weary people, born into the wrong family, rebellious by nature. Those are the kinds of people he is looking for. God says, “Is there anyone left, anyone, who I can show kindness to, for my son’s sake?” God desires to show off the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward you. He wants to glorify himself by giving to you through Jesus. Thats his plan. To ensure that Jesus gets all the praise and worship he is due, because Jesus saves sinners.
