Religion is work–it makes our rest even seem like work. The gospel is true rest–it makes work even seem like rest. Jesus reveals a different approach to sin and forgiveness, to exclusion and acceptance. His acceptance of the unacceptable exposes the hostility and exclusivism of religious leaders. He demonstrates the revolutionary nature of the kingdom of God.
