“…addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart,” -Ephesians 5:19
Each week, we will give you a preview of the music that will shape our time together on Sunday mornings, along with a few links and resources that will help you to sew these songs of faith into your daily life. We look forward to exalting Christ with you this Sunday.
“Here is Love”
The text for this song was written by the 19th century Welsh pastor Willaim Rees. The melody was later added by Robert Lowry, who penned many well known hymns, himself. We tend to enjoy the modern arrangement by Ex Nihilo of Mars Hill Church, which goes to shows that great hymn texts often come alive when given a new context.
Here is love, vast as the ocean,
Lovingkindness as the flood,
When the Prince of Life, our Ransom,
Shed for us His precious blood.
…
Grace and love, like mighty rivers,
Poured incessant from above,
And Heav’n’s peace and perfect justice
Kissed a guilty world in love.
“God With Us”
We’ve been using this song at Sanctuary for quite some time. It directs us with the sentiment of Psalm 8 from the very beginning. Humbling us in light of God’s power and holiness. The Father looks on us with favor because of Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us.
Who Are We That You Would Be Mindful Of Us
What Do You See, That’s Worth Looking Our Way
“Only Your Blood is Enough”
From the latest release from Sojourn, out of Lousville, Kentucky, “Only Your Blood is Enough” is written from text by Isaac Watts, like the rest of the album. If you don’t have a copy, you should! You can find out more about the music coming out of this Acts 29 church here.
No bleeding bird, no bleeding beast
No hyssop branch, no priest
No running brook no flood no sea
Can wash away this stain from me
…
Only Your blood is enough to cover my sin
Only Your blood is enough to cover me
“Give Me Faith”
This song by Chris Brown of Elevation Church in Charlotte gives us words for what our heart longs for. We need the Spirit of God to direct us and impart faith to us or we won’t trust in our Savior. We can’t confess our need of Him often enough. Of course, there is good news. Check out the video here.
I may be weak
Your Spirit’s strong in me
My flesh may fail
My God you never will
“All I Have is Christ”
Here’s a video that Dave MacKenzie at Sovereign Grace put together from the Next conference,
The glory of God is clearly seen in Christ on the cross. The holiness of God and His grace are displayed perfectly. This song by Tim Hughes gives us a melody to put to that truth. You can pick it up on iTunes.
2 Corinthians 4:6
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
As we gather this week to worship through song and scripture, look on the Savior King, who for the joy set before him went to the cross to save us from sin and death. Cry out to Him and He will give grace. Submit to His authority as king and He will become the satisfaction you desire.
